2. How Pravaasa Uses Cookies
We use cookies and browser storage for a small number of practical reasons: to keep you signed in, to protect sign-in and payment flows, to remember your language, theme and compare list, and to make the Platform load and work correctly.
At the time of this version of the Policy, we do not use advertising cookies, we do not run cross-site tracking for ads, and we do not use third-party analytics tracking scripts on the Platform. If we introduce any non-essential cookies in the future, we will update this Policy and ask for your permission first where the law requires it.
3. The Cookies and Storage Items We Use
3.2 Sign-in state kept in your browser's storage
Traveller session (pravaasa_traveller_access_token, in local storage): after you verify your phone or email, a session token is stored in your browser so you stay signed in. A traveller session can last for up to 30 days, or until you sign out or choose to sign out of all sessions.
Host dashboard session (pravaasa_owner_access_token and related organisation and property identifiers, in local storage): used so that a signed-in host's dashboard can load the right property and data.
Email sign-in helper (emailForSignIn, in local storage): remembers the email address you used to request a sign-in link, so that you can finish signing in on the same device. It is cleared after sign-in.
Sign-in flow helpers (pravaasa_login_next and pravaasa_signup_name, in session storage): temporarily remember the page you wanted to reach and the name you typed during sign-up. They are cleared when you close the tab or finish signing in.
3.3 Preferences and convenience
Theme (pravaasa-theme, in local storage): remembers whether you chose the light or dark display so that the page does not flash the wrong theme when it loads.
Compare list and notes (pravaasa:compare and pravaasa:compare:notes, in local storage): stores the stays you added to your compare list and any private notes you wrote about them. This information stays in your browser on that device and is not sent to us.
These items last until you remove them, for example by clearing site data or by removing a stay from your compare list.
4. Third-Party Services That May Set Their Own Cookies
Some features load content or scripts from other companies. When that happens, the company may receive information such as your IP address and browser details and may set its own cookies or storage, under its own privacy and cookie policies. We do not control those cookies.
Payments: when you pay, the checkout is provided by Razorpay. Its secure checkout may set cookies or use device information to process the payment and help prevent fraud. We do not receive your card number, CVV or UPI PIN.
Sign-in: if you choose Google sign-in or phone and email sign-in provided through Google and Firebase, those services may set cookies or use storage to complete authentication.
Fonts and maps: the Platform loads fonts from Google Fonts, and map and place features rely on Google Maps and Google Places. Your browser contacts Google to fetch them, and Google may record that request. When you tap a "get directions" link, you leave Pravaasa and Google's own policies apply.
Organisers' sites: when you click through to a trek or event organiser's website to book, their cookies and policies apply there.
5. How to Manage and Delete Cookies
5.1 Using your browser
Every major browser lets you see, block or delete cookies and site data. Look for a menu named Privacy, Security or Site Settings. You can usually block all cookies, block only third-party cookies, or clear everything when you close the browser. Each browser explains how in its own help pages.
To remove items such as your traveller session, compare list or theme choice, clear "site data" or "local storage" for pravaasastays.com in your browser settings.
5.2 Using Pravaasa's controls
Signing out removes your session token from the browser. If you want to sign out everywhere, use the "sign out of all sessions" option on your account page.
You can empty your compare list and delete your compare notes from the compare page at any time.
Notification choices such as marketing messages are separate from cookies and are managed on your account page. See our Privacy Policy.
5.3 What happens if you block cookies
If you block strictly necessary cookies or storage, you may not be able to sign in, complete a booking or pay. If you block preference items, the site will still work but will forget your theme and compare list the next time you visit.
Using a private or incognito window will usually clear these items when you close the window. Your sign-in and compare list will not carry over.
6. Consent and Browser Signals
The cookies and storage items in Section 3 are used only to provide features you have asked for or to keep the Platform secure, so we do not ask for separate permission for them. If we add cookies that are not strictly necessary, we will ask for your consent first and let you change your mind later.
Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. Because we do not currently run cross-site tracking, our behaviour does not change when we receive that signal.
7. Personal Data, Children and Related Policies
Cookies can be linked to personal data, such as the account you sign in with. How we handle that data, how long we keep it and what rights you have are explained in our Privacy Policy. The Platform is meant for adults, and we do not knowingly use cookies to track children.
8. Changes and Contact
We may update this Cookie Policy when we add features, change providers or when the law changes. The version history at the end of the page shows what changed and when. If we make an important change, we will say so on the Platform.
If you have questions about cookies or want to raise a concern, write to support@pravaasastays.com or use the support page at /support.
