1. About These Guest Terms
These Guest Terms explain what Pravaasa Stays expects from you when you search for, book, and stay at a verified homestay, villa, resort, or other accommodation, or join a trek or event, through our platform. They sit alongside our Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy, Booking Policy, Cancellation Policy, Refund Policy, and Payment & Billing Policy. If anything here conflicts with the Terms & Conditions, the Terms & Conditions prevail.
Pravaasa Stays is a marketplace intermediary. When you book a stay, your accommodation contract is with the host, who is an independent property owner or manager. Pravaasa does not own, operate, or staff the properties listed on the platform. We provide discovery, booking, secure payment, messaging, verification of hosts, and dispute support.
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or make a booking. If you book on behalf of other people, you are responsible for making sure everyone in your party knows and follows these terms.
2. Your Account and the Information You Give Us
2.1 Keeping your account secure
You can sign in with a mobile OTP, an email magic link, or Google Sign-In. Never share an OTP or magic link with anyone, including someone who says they work for Pravaasa. We will never ask you for an OTP, card PIN, or UPI PIN.
You can turn on authenticator-app protection and sign out of all devices from your account settings. If you think someone else has accessed your account, sign out of all devices and contact us straight away at support@pravaasastays.com.
2.2 Accuracy of information
Give your real name, a working phone number, and accurate dates and party size. Hosts rely on this information to prepare for your arrival and to meet their legal duty to register guests. Booking under a false name, or deliberately understating the number of adults, children, or infants, is a breach of these terms.
3. Booking and Paying Through Pravaasa
Pravaasa charges guests a 0% service fee. The price you see is the rate the host has set, together with any applicable taxes (such as GST where it applies) and any property-specific charges shown in the price breakdown before you pay. Read the breakdown before you confirm.
Payments are processed through Razorpay using UPI, cards, or net banking. Pravaasa servers do not store your card number, CVV, or banking PIN.
Your payment is held in escrow and is released to the host 24 hours after you check in. This protects you if a host fails to deliver the stay that was promised, and it protects hosts against non-arrival.
Always pay only through the Pravaasa platform. A host or anyone else asking you to pay a deposit, balance, 'booking confirmation' amount, or any other charge by direct UPI transfer, bank transfer, cash, or a payment link outside Pravaasa is breaking our rules. If that happens, do not pay, and report it (see section 13). Payments made outside the platform are not covered by our escrow, refund, or dispute processes.
4. Check-In and Government ID
4.1 Indian nationals
Every adult guest must carry a valid government-issued photo ID, such as an Aadhaar card, passport, voter ID, or driving licence. Hosts are required by local hospitality and police rules to check ID and keep a guest register, so a host may lawfully refuse check-in to a guest who cannot show valid ID.
4.2 Foreign nationals
Foreign nationals must carry a valid passport and visa. Hosts may have to report foreign guests to the local police or the Foreigners Regional Registration Office within the legal time limit (our India configuration assumes 24 hours), including your name, ID type and number, nationality, and check-in and check-out dates. Please provide these details promptly when asked.
4.3 How your ID is used
A host may use your ID only to verify your identity and meet legal registration duties. Hosts must not use it for any other purpose, share it, or sell it. You may ask how your ID copy is stored and when it will be deleted. If a host asks for more documents than seem necessary, tell us through the reporting options in section 13.
5. Occupancy and Visitors
Each listing states how many adults and children it can host. You may not exceed the confirmed occupancy, and you may not bring additional overnight guests without the host's prior written agreement through the platform. Day visitors, event guests, and photographers or film crews also need the host's prior agreement.
If your plans change (for example, more people want to join), message the host and update the booking before arrival. Hosts may turn away extra people at check-in, and you will not be entitled to a refund for the part of your party that was refused.
6. House Rules and Neighbourhood Consideration
Every listing shows its house rules before you book: check-in and check-out times, quiet hours, smoking, pets, children, parties, and visitors. By booking, you agree to follow them. Many stays are family homes, plantations, or farmsteads in quiet communities. Quiet hours (commonly 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM unless the listing says otherwise) apply to everyone.
Parties, loud music, large gatherings, and commercial events are not allowed unless the property is clearly listed for that purpose and the host has agreed in writing. Open fires, bonfires, and fireworks may only be used where the host has said so, and always as the host directs.
Respect local customs, wildlife, farmland, and water sources. Do not feed wild animals, litter, or enter restricted forest or private estate areas.
7. Property Care and Damage
7.1 Your duty of care
Treat the accommodation, furniture, appliances, linen, and grounds with care. You are financially responsible for damage, loss, or excessive cleaning caused by you or anyone in your party, whether through negligence or on purpose. Normal wear and tear is not damage.
7.2 How damage claims work
If a host believes your party caused damage, they may open a damage claim through the platform. A damage claim must include photographic or documentary evidence. Pravaasa never automatically charges your card for a claim. You will be told about the claim, can add your own evidence, and our team mediates before any outcome is decided.
Please photograph the property on arrival and report any pre-existing damage to the host in writing straight away. This is the best protection against a wrongful claim.
8. Communicating With Your Host
Use the platform messages in your account (the Host Messages tab) or the WhatsApp host chat provided with your booking to talk to your host. Keeping conversations on official channels creates a record that helps us resolve any dispute fairly.
Do not share your OTPs, passwords, or card details in any chat. Do not agree to move a booking, a payment, or a review off Pravaasa. If a host or another user pressures you to do so, report it.
9. Respect, Safety, and Non-Discrimination
Treat hosts, staff, neighbours, other guests, and fellow travellers with courtesy and dignity. Harassment, threats, intimidation, violence, stalking, or abusive language, whether in person, by message, or in a review, is never acceptable.
You must not discriminate against or demean anyone because of their caste, religion, race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected identity. This applies to how you treat hosts and staff, and to anything you write on the platform.
You must not use a property for anything illegal, including drug use or distribution, illegal gambling, trafficking or exploitation of any person, or storage of illegal weapons or fireworks. You must not install or use hidden cameras or recording devices in any part of a property.
10. Cancellations, Host Cancellations, and Refunds
Each listing displays the host's cancellation policy (Flexible, Moderate, or Strict) before you pay. What you are refunded when you cancel depends on that policy and on how far ahead of check-in you cancel. See our Cancellation Policy and Refund Policy for the detailed tiers and timelines.
If a host cancels a confirmed booking, you receive a full refund. If a booking is disrupted and you are eligible, Pravaasa may suggest alternative stays that match your trip. You can see re-accommodation offers in your account. Optional Pravaasa Protect, where offered, is booking support and recovery assistance, and is not insurance.
Cancelling and then asking the host to take payment outside Pravaasa, or collecting a refund and still staying, is a breach of these terms.
11. Reviews and Honest Feedback
Only guests who complete a verified stay can review a property. Your review should be honest, based on your own experience, and free of hate speech, private information, or threats. You must not offer to post or withhold a review in exchange for a refund, discount, or favour, and you must not accept payment for a review. See our Review & Rating Policy for full rules.
Hosts may also review guests after a stay, in line with the same fairness and non-discrimination standards. You can see and dispute a review about you from the Reputation tab of your account.
12. Treks, Events, and Outdoor Activities
Treks and events on Pravaasa are run by independent organisers. Outdoor activities carry real risk. You are responsible for being honest about your health and fitness, following your guide's instructions, carrying required ID and permits, and not entering restricted areas. Do not take part in an activity that you are not prepared for.
If an organiser or host offers an activity that seems unsafe or unlicensed, do not take part, and report it to us.
13. Reporting Problems and Resolving Disputes
If something goes wrong, message your host first so they have a chance to fix it. If that does not work, open a support case from the Support tab of your account (choose a category such as Reservation, Payment, Trust, Safety & Access, or Amenity Discrepancy), or email support@pravaasastays.com.
To report a listing, a host, or suspected fraud, use the Trust & Safety reporting options (Report a Property, Report Fraud, or Report an Issue). Your report is reviewed by our team. For any danger to life or safety, call local emergency services (112 in India) first. Pravaasa is not an emergency service.
Disputes are governed by the dispute resolution terms in our Terms & Conditions. We encourage you to try informal resolution with the host and with us first.
14. Prohibited Conduct and Consequences
The following are strictly prohibited and may lead to cancellation of your booking, suspension or termination of your account, loss of any right to a refund for the affected stay, and referral to the police or other authorities where required by law:
- Fraud, including false identity, forged payment proof, chargeback abuse, or false damage or refund claims.
- Paying, or asking a host to be paid, outside the platform, or pressuring anyone to do so.
- Fake, paid, threatening, or retaliatory reviews, or using a review to demand money or extras.
- Discrimination, harassment, violence, or abuse of any person.
- Illegal activity, hidden recording devices, or unsafe use of the property.
- Exceeding confirmed occupancy, running commercial parties, or subletting the stay.
We take proportionate action based on how serious the violation is and whether it has happened before. Serious cases may result in immediate suspension while we investigate.
15. Changes to These Terms and Contact
We may update these Guest Terms from time to time. The version number and the effective date at the top of this page tell you which version applies. When we make material changes, we will update the version and date here. Continuing to use the platform after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Questions about these terms can be sent through our Support page or to support@pravaasastays.com.
